emotional support

our best friends, our companions, our therapy
To couple my internships from both years, I have decided to look into the power of pets on mental health, and emotional support animals in particular.

Studies done have shown that when petting a dog, oxytocin is released in both the dog and human. Other research shows us that the presence of a pet greatly reduces stress response, including the hormone cortisol.
Masses of anecdotal research show us how pets can reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, and I have two personal stories of my own.
